English as an Additional Language (EAL) Curriculum Statement

At Heene we aim to offer pupils with English as an Additional Language and their families a warm welcome through our friendly classrooms and dedicated team of trained teachers and teaching assistants, who befriend and support pupils with EAL, offering academic, social and pastoral care.

As a community, we help children to make friends and integrate as quickly as possible within their classroom and the wider school environment, responding to their individual needs with a range of strategies to help them make progress and fulfil their potential.

Our EAL coordinator liaises with external sources for training and resources and monitors closely the progress of all children with EAL across the school.
