Science Curriculum Statement

We encourage the children to develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about the world we live in. In Science pupils observe, explore and ask questions about living things, materials and physical processes.  Working scientifically runs through the whole science curriculum, whether it is biology, science or physics.  Children are encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes.

Children are taught to be independent and collaborative through their involvement in practical investigations.  They share their ideas and communicate them using scientific language.  Pupils use reference materials to find out more about scientific ideas.  Whenever possible we use the outdoor learning environment (including the park and the beach) to enhance the children’s learning experience.
