Personal, Health, Social and Emotional Curriculum Statement

PSHE education provides children and young people with knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive, fulfilled, capable and responsible lives. It supports them in conflict resolution, making effective transitions and positive learning. It gives children and young people the skills to reflect on and analyse their own values and equips them to face difficult and sometimes conflicting attitudes they may face in the future.

At Heene First School we encourage children to take part in a range of activities and experiences both within the school and the wider community. We have a School Council which allows the children to share their opinions and take responsibility for the running of the school. We enable the children to understand and respect diversity, differences and common humanity to that they can go on to form effective, fulfilling relationships that are an essential part of life and learning.

Opportunities for learning in PSHE can occur discreetly or through cross curricular links. It encourages joy in achievement, being healthy, staying safe, emotional health and making positive contributions that lead to good relationships.
